He was trying to commit suicide; whatever revenge you took would be beside the point.

Besides, there are other ways to inflict pain.

[He looks up at him, then takes his hand.]

[He playfully massages his fingers against his scalp.]

[He continues stroking his hair.]

[He lets out a huff of a laugh.]

Probably went out sitting in his own piss.

[He hums quietly, absolutely hating that for his friend. Dying alone would be a fitting end for a hateful father.]

You’re better than all of that anyway, taking your revenge against someone so lowly.

Yeah, you're right.

[He lets out a breath.]

What was your dad like?

Righteous, like my brother. They died the same way.

[Huaisang laughs softly.]

But he was a romantic, like me. Mingjue and I had different mothers, Mingjue’s mother was his first wife, mine his second, but father loved them both so much that he swore never to remarry after my mother passed.

Yeah? Sorry. That you lost her, I mean.

[He closes his eyes.]

I didn't know my mother. Don't remember her.

I don’t really remember my mother either. I was young when she died.

[And he was young too when Father died. Mingjue had been everything to him.]

I’m sorry that we have that in common, not knowing our mothers.

[He drops his hand from Huaisang's and makes himself more comfortable in his lap.]

I know how fortunate I am. [He had his da-ge, Aaron really had...no one.]

[He doesn't care if he was alone then. He did what he could. And now he's dead and things are better than they ever have been.]

[He smiles, bright and youthful, and leans down to touch his lips to Aaron's.]

[He feels the shift in position, but he doesn't expect the kiss. So when it comes, he flinches for half a second before he wraps an arm around his neck, fingers in his hair.]

[He feels the hesitation but waits, and is glad he does when Aaron returns the kiss. He hauls him up slightly, just to make things easier as he continues kissing him.]

[Aaron is fortunately feeling better, and so he's able to raise up to his knees with Huaisang's help, and place one hand on his chest. He continues the kiss, fingers trailing along his hair.]

[Aside from pulling Aaron up, Huaisang doesn't push. Not yet. He can tell Aaron is still wary, and though he's used to being spoiled by the people he chooses to kiss, he understands needing to take it slow. He just enjoys the soft touch of Aaron's mouth to his, the feeling of his hand combing through his hair.]

[Aaron's not ready to push yet. He's still not even accepted what they're doing as anything more than a friendship. Even as he pulls back and immediately rests his head in Huaisang's lap again.]

There was someone else who showed up alongside my brother. Another sect leader.

[He stares off coldly as he pushes his fingers though Aaron’s hair.]

[He relaxes again, mumbling out his words.]

[Xichen-ge isn’t stupid, Huaisang believes this. But he was naive.]
