[He's a good host, so he refills Aaron's cup of tea once he sets down the cup.]

I guess there's something to be said for having someone to rely on here.

[He sits back a little, flipping his sleeve up to keep it out of the way of his drink.]

[He doesn't pick the cup up again just yet. Instead, he folds his hands together.]

[He shrugs noncommittally, but there's a mischievous smirk tugging on the corner of his mouth.]

It's especially difficult when you act like you have nothing under your control. Isn't that what you do?

[He finally picks up his cup, watching his face before he takes a drink.]

Why are you here, Aaron?

Ah, I was accused of killing the Bishop. You got - uh - religious leaders where you're from? Spiritual folks? Clergy?

Anyway - the Bishop got slashed up and I was covered in his blood. Ran out of his room. They caught me, literally, red handed. [He laughs.]

And they still let me off because of the Aaron and Roy show. But I did it. Of course I did it.

[He nods, he can follow that there’s a hierarchy. It’s not an unfamiliar concept.

He looks a little surprised at the revaluation, then amused.]

You do play the roles well.

[He’s sincere about it. He clearly did his research and plotted well. A young mastermind, this Aaron.]

[Aaron tenses a little. He knew this question would come up. He was prepared.]

[Huaisang’s eyes follow, enraptured.]

Eh, I wasn't punished. The punishment was ending up here. [He settles down, sitting back on the couch.]

But I got you out of it, huh? [And he nudges him with his elbow.]

[He laughs, cocking his head with a cheeky little smile.]

Fast friends, the two of us! But who would have thought there’d be two spectacular bullshitters like us on the Barge at one time.

Hell yeah. [He settles back, an arm lounging behind him.]

So your bad guy is still here, huh?

Trying his hand at redemption. [He scoffs and reaches for his fan.]

It’ll never happen. He’s too ruthless, and cares for no one but himself. And even if he is redeemed, what good would it do! Our world hates him now.

You making his life hell? [He wants that for him. Aaron got his revenge. He would tear the Bishop apart of he sae him here.]

My presence here drives him crazy. [He laughs.]

I stumbled on something the other day that could play out nicely, if I choose to keep going down that path.

[He pushes his hair back from his face, eager to hear this scheme.]

[Huaisang pulls out his fan from his belt and opens it with a flourish.]

He thinks I harbor a decades-long crush on him. [He gags slightly. It’s gross.] But if he wants to think that about me, it makes him vulnerable.

[Aaron wrinkles his nose.]

[He puts a hand on his chest. Why the fuck doesn't he just carry cigarettes with him?]

[Aaron looks, for a moment, genuinely confused. Then he shakes his head.]

Nah, nah, it's nothing. It's a good plan. Hit him where it hurts and all.

[Huaisang is not convinced, but he isn’t about to let Aaron know that.]

I have to get creative here. It isn’t as though I can use my magic or my influence as a clan leader.
