[Aaron opens the door to his cabin just in time to see Huaisang approaching.

He says nothing, just leads him inside the little apartment before collapsing back on his bed.

The place is small, cramped, and everything is just a little bit dirty. The lamps have a fine film of dust along the shades, giving the room a strange sort of glow.

The only things that seem new and loved would be the pile of books on a mismatched desk.]

[Huaisang flutters on inside the room. He sees the struggle in the walls and the scuffed floors; Aaron had to scrimp and save to afford this place.

He sets the pot of tea down and passes by the books. He smiles; that seems about right.]

Why were you in the infirmary?

[He waits until the door's closed.]

I fucking died when the roof caved in, man. [He sucks in a wheezing breath.]

[He hadn't been in the dining hall when it happened, but of course he heard what happened. He quickly rushes to Aaron's side, standing over him worriedly.]

You died?! Let me get you that tea!

Don't worry. I'll be fine in a day or so. I'm already better than I was.

[He does prop himself up to inspect that tea.]

[No, no, he's going to take care of Aaron now. He died! That's unacceptable!]

Johann and Envy, those were the culprits. [Not that he's plotting any revenge (not yet anyway), he just knows these things.]

I don't know who the fuck they are.

[He groans, draping an arm over his face.]

It was a bloodbath down there, Huaisang.

[He sits on the edge of the bed, pushing his fingers through his yellow hair gently.]

It was sudden, wasn’t it?

[He closes his eyes against the touch to his hair.]

Yeah. Not like there was anything anyone could do.

You weren't there, right?

No, I was sleeping.

[Because of course he was. Doing things is for suckers.

He continues to stroke his hair softly.]

I've heard it's an all-over pain. Should I get you medicine?

Nah, it doesn't work that well on me. Had too much good shit a few years ago and now it kind of fucks me up.

[He breathes out.]

Where's that tea?

[threedontknows]

[Addiction is still very much a thing in his world. He nods sympathetically and fetches the tea for him, pouring him a decent-sized cup.]

Here. Drink slowly.

[He sits up and places a hand on his wrist, guiding the cup himself to his lips.]

That's actually warm.

[threedontknows]

I practically ran here.

[He sits back as Aaron sits up, but doesn't pull his hand away as he takes a careful sip.]

Does it help?

First thing I've had besides water in two fucking days. It's great, man.

[He lets out a breath.]

Goddammit.

[At least he’s drinking water! He’s still pretty concerned though, and doesn’t bother hiding it.]

I thought dying once would be enough.

I wasn't planning on it! Fucking assholes around here.

Ugh.

[He takes another drink.]

[There is the desire for revenge, seeing Aaron like this.

But he doesn’t do violence. He’ll find a way.]

Drink more tea.

I'm fine, I'm fine. Don't fuss. [He doesn't quite know what to do about the fussing. He's never had someone care about him like this.]

I’m not fussing.

[He says, fussing over his cup and blanket.]

Don’t be stubborn. It’s foolish. I’m just trying to help.

[He settles back against the pillows, letting him adjust his blanket.]

I know, man. But - it's weird. To have someone give a shit about me this much.

It's the kind of thing friends do. [He thinks. Friendship's always been a bit hit or miss for Huaisang. Real friendship, that is.]

Nah, my friend's sooner leave you in your own place, sick as shit. Glad they're not around. [He reaches out to take his arm.]

I gotta sleep but - stay a while?

[They're bad friends -- but he gets it. Actual friends are hard to come by. He nods and tucks the blanket around Aaron's arms.]

Until I get bored.

Don't be an ass. What if I wake up and need some water, huh? You just gonna leave me here? Read a fucking book.

[He smirks as he says it, though, and turns to bury his face in his pillow.]
